The US Marshals Fugitive Recovery Task Force arrested Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa, a 15-year-old illegal immigrant from Venezuela, in connection with the shooting of a tourist in Times Square.
The kid is also suspected of shooting at cops.
NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell described the boy as “armed and dangerous.”
Rivas-Figueroa is also a suspect in an armed robbery in the Bronx:
It came just moments after NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell identified Jesus Alejandro Rivas-Figueroa as the “armed and dangerous” person of interest in connection with the chaotic incident at the Crossroads of the World Thursday night.
He arrived in New York from Venezuela in September and has been staying at a temporary shelter at the Stratford Hotel on West 70th Street, Chell said.
He is also a suspect in an armed robbery in the Bronx from January 27, and another incident in which shots were fired in Midtown, the police official said.
The teen is considered “armed and dangerous” with what police believe is a “very large” .40-caliber handgun, Chell added.
He allegedly fired two shots at police officers when fleeing Thursday night.
“He had no problems firing into a crowd at a store … and not shooting at cops once, but shooting at them twice,” Chell said of Rivas-Figueroa.
“We’re not gonna put up with this,” he insisted.
I wonder if DA Alvin Bragg will request bail.
Bragg requested bail for only one of the several suspects, all illegal immigrants from Venezuela, in the beating of two NYPD cops. Authorities believe at least four of the suspects fled.
Bragg tried to make it sound like he was tough on crime by bringing the case to a grand jury, which indicted seven of the illegal immigrants.
Except, you know, authorities only have one in custody.
